New app is being hailed as 'The eco Pokémon Go' and it's getting green fans really excited

Pokémon Go took the world by storm this year - and now there's a new eco app taking off which has been compared to it.

The Look Up app lets you point your phone at any building and - instead of catching a Pokémon - find roofs that could be turned into solar power stations.

The clever app can reveal potential energy outputs of hot spots - and entries go towards creating a national treasure map of potential spots. Plus you can also win prizes by submitting ideas and climbing the leaderboard.

The release of the Look Up app coincides with The Mirror teaming up with Aviva’s Community Fund, which offers up to £25,000 for local projects that make a difference to people’s lives.

But time is running out to enter a project with the deadline of midday on Tuesday October 11 fast approaching - so visit Aviva.co.uk/community-fund and your chosen project could soon be celebrating.

New app could inspire you to enter a local project for an award of up to £25k from the Aviva Community Fund

We've launched a new Environment category for projects that restore, protect, and connect communities with the parks, wildlife habitats and woodlands around them.

Eco projects across the country are finding innovative ways to make the most of their local green spaces.

Devoted experts and volunteers are giving up their own time to clear and rejuvenate local parks, to create sustainable environments for wildlife displaced by new developments, or to design renewable energy projects to help make their town or village more eco-friendly.

How the Aviva Community Fund benefited last year's winning organisations

So if you know an eco project that could benefit from a cash injection of £1,000 up to £25,000, make sure you enter them for this award.

Not only will it help finance their work, but it could also give their profile a boost locally and around the country.

The more support they have, the more work they can do to help make the most of the environment in your area.

To enter a local project, visit Aviva.co.uk/community-fund, and perhaps a green space near you could be transformed too.
