Ginger kitten dubbed 'too ugly for adoption' taken in by charity because no-one else wanted him

A tiny ginger kitten dubbed 'too ugly for adoption' has found a new home at last - with the only people who will take him.

Romeo, who was born with a deformed eye which saw him being left for dead as a newborn, has been adopted by a charity.

The tiny puss apparently spends his days playing at the Santuario Compasion Animal rescue centre in A Coruna, Spain.

The sanctuary became his fur-ever home after no-one wanted to adopt him - despite his siblings finding new families.

The centre's Laura Llacer wrote on Facebook about Romeo's pastimes.

"He spends his days playing and calling the attention of the volunteers to listen to him.

"It seems Romeo was a kitten to which no one wanted to give a home because they said he was ugly, and now people from all over the world have written us to ask for him.

"We hope that the story of Romeo will help to end up with a lot of prejudices and teach us that what is important, what unites us, is the desire to live."

After being contacted about the cat, the Santuario Compasion Animal rescue centre pointed out that the sanctuary is his home.

But it said that there are 'millions of kittens' that are waiting for a similar chance at happiness.

The sanctuary has an online fundraising campaign to help pay for its costs.
