Someone lost the cutest thing on a train – and people can't understand how

Someone left a Chinchilla on a train.

The cute little fluff-ball was found abandoned late on Monday on a c2c service at Barking, East London.

c2c operates between the City of London and various locations in Essex. The train was travelling from Southend, according to c2c.

The rail company tweeted its discovery in a bid to find out whose the animal is. It's not believed a chinchilla has ever been abandoned on a British train before.

A very furry passenger

"We had this little chinchilla handed in to us as missing on one of our trains this evening," wrote c2c.

"Do you know whose it is?"

c2c told Mirror Online that the chinchilla was found at "Barking around 11:30 last night".

On Tuesday, c2c updated customers with new information – the cute little critter has been named 'Poppy'.

"UPDATE: 'Poppy' is currently happily being fostered by a member of staff," said the company.

Chinchillas aren't native to Essex

The animal is said to be 'happy' for the time being, but, indeed, homeless. People are concerned – and many wonder just how somebody left the animal.

Kata Margitai said: "Any new developments? Fingers crossed for a happy ending for this little one."

"Chinchilla train abandonment," added James White. "I'm done. That's quite enough of 2016."
